Some people never give up hope. Take as an example a poll at Red Reporter: a Cincinnati Reds Blog. The poll question was “Who will win the NL Central in 2007?” you may not believe it but 48% of 994 respondents (as of 11:13 on 6/6/07) picked the Reds to win the division. That’s right; 481 people are certifiably delusional.
I am a huge Reds fan, but let’s face it, they are the worst team in the worst division in MLB. Currently they are 11 games back of that traditional NL powerhouse the Milwaukee Brewers. There are currently only two teams who own records more abominable than Cincinnati: the Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals.
In yesterday evening’s game the Reds twice had bases loaded with less than two outs. They scored a total of two runs. They lost 4-3 in game where they stranded 15 runners in scoring position.
The Reds are consistently awful. When they score runs the pitching gives up more runs. When the pitching holds the opposition down, the offense strands runners.
Yeah, I’m sure they’ll rebound and when the division. Maybe when all the pigs in Cincinnati fly.
